Prazivet Plus (generic name: praziquantel/pyrantel pamoate/febantel; brand names include: Drontal Plus) belongs to a group of medicines known as deworming agents (dewormers).
There are three active ingredients in Prazivet Plus: praziquantel, pyrantel pamoate and febantel.
One pack of Prazivet Plus contains 20 tablets, 50 mg+144 mg+150 mg each.
Prazivet Plus can be used to treat several kinds of the most common intestinal parasites in dogs, including:
Ascarids
Hookworms
Whipworms
Tapeworms
Prazivet Plus can be used in dogs and puppies at least 3 weeks old and weighing at least 2 lbs.
Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your veterinarian. Give Prazivet Plus exactly as directed by your veterinarian.
Prazivet Plus is given as a single dose. Tablets may be mixed with food. The recommended dose rate of Prazivet Plus is one tablet per 10 kg bodyweight.
Regular Prazivet Plus tablets can be used in dogs weighing up to 31 kg (68 lbs).
Dosages for puppies and small dogs:
½-2 kg bodyweight = ¼ Prazivet Plus tablet
2-5 kg bodyweight = ½ Prazivet Plus tablet
6-10 kg bodyweight = 1 Prazivet Plus tablet
For medium dogs:
11-15 kg bodyweight = 1½ Prazivet Plus tablet
16-20 kg bodyweight = 2 Prazivet Plus tablet
21-25 kg bodyweight = 2½ Prazivet Plus tablet
26-30 kg bodyweight = 3 Prazivet Plus tablet
Puppies should be treated at 2 weeks of age and every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age. Thereafter they should be treated at 3-month intervals. It is advisable to treat the bitch at the same time as the puppies.
For the control of Toxocara, nursing bitches should be dosed 2 weeks after giving birth and every two weeks until weaning.
For routine control adult dogs should be treated every 3 months. For routine treatment a single dose is
recommended. In the event of heavy roundworm infestation a repeat dose should be given after 14 days.
Precautions
Do not give Prazivet Plus to your dog if you are already giving some other dewormer medication, unless directed by your veterinarian.
